MADISON — When LaDonna Redmond began working on food justice issues more than a decade ago, she did it for a simple reason: She wanted to provide the healthiest food that was available for her son.

Redmond, the keynote speaker Nov. 3 at the Women Food & Ag Network 20th annual conference, talked about some of the projects she has worked on and what still needs to be done to end injustice and exploitation in the food system. She said she began her activist role when it was determined that her young son was allergic to dairy products, shellfish, eggs and peanuts.
