DATCP's harsh treatment of family farm was unnecessary

Recently, I have expressed my concerns about demands by the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and its effort to elicit evidence regarding raw milk sales in the form of a "request for interrogatories and demand for production of documents" from the farm of Wayne and Janet Brunner in rural Pepin County. Pepin County Sheriff John Andrews joined me in expressing concern about DATCP's actions, and we are proud to publicly support honest family farmers and small-business owners such as the Brunners.

Ag land rezoning conversion fee is fair

As a lifelong farmer who had the honor to serve as co-chairman of the Working Lands Initiative Steering Committee, I'm proud that the new law will help strengthen Wisconsin's farmland protection efforts. It also will provide better tools to protect one of our state's most precious resources - our working farmland.
