Donations are being sought to help pay for the restoration of the Weyerhaeuser Soo Line depot.
The five levels of donor recognition include Engine ($1,000 or more), Fireman ($500 to $999), Conductor ($250 to $449), Switchman ($100 to $249) and Brakeman ($50 to $99).
The WACCI is a registered 501(c)(3) organization; donations are tax-deductible. Checks should be made payable to “Weyerhaeuser Area Community Club-Save the Depot” and mailed to: Weyerhaeuser Area Community Club-Save the Depot, P.O. Box 333, Weyerhaeuser, WI 54895.

Growing up with a father and uncles employed by the Weyerhaeuser depot, Virginia Szozda recalls many family conversations dominated by the railroad.
“They were in their own little world,” she said. “Railroaders are like a fraternity; they talk their own language.”
