It was author Norman Maclean who coined the phrase a “tough kind of beauty” in his book “A River Runs Through It” in 1976.
Photographer Craig Schreiner said he thought of that phrase often as he spent time on the Jim and Gordy Lamberty farm near Pine Bluff while compiling photos for his newly published book, “One Small Farm: Photographs of a Wisconsin Way of Life.”
