Series of twilight meetings to shed light on modern dairying

Community leaders, elected officials and citizens with questions about modern dairy farming practices and business models are invited to a series of Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin twilight meetings scheduled for August.

Hosted by Wisconsin Towns Association, Wisconsin Counties Association and the Professional Dairy Producers, Agricultural Community Engagement meetings Aug. 27-31 will provide an opportunity for open discussions on farming practices, resources and other topics important to Wisconsin communities. Each meeting is free and open to the public, beginning with a dairy farm tour at 6 p.m., ice cream at 7 p.m. and the facilitated discussion about dairy farming lasting until about 8:30 p.m.

The first meeting will be held on Aug. 27 at Kellercrest Holsteins, 1141 County Highway JG South, Mount Horeb; the second meeting on Aug. 28 at Miltrim Farms, 1715 W. Townline Road, Athens. A third meeting will be held Aug. 29 at Brey Cycle Farm LLC, 2139 County Road O, Sturgeon Bay and a fourth meeting will be held on Aug. 30 at Double S Dairy, N3447 Marshview Road, Markesan.
