It’s no secret that dairy farms and the dairy industry are an important part of Wisconsin’s rural communities and economy. However, community leaders, elected officials and citizens often have questions about modern dairy farming practices and business models.
The Professional Dairy Producers will host a 2018 series of Agricultural Community Engagement On-the-Farm Twilight Meetings Aug. 27-31. Co-hosts are the Wisconsin Towns Association and Wisconsin Counties Association. Through a joint initiative, the three organizations will provide an opportunity for open discussions on farming practices, resources and any other topics important to Wisconsin communities.
Each meeting is free and open to the public, beginning with a dairy farm tour at 6 p.m., followed by ice cream at 7 p.m. and facilitated discussion about dairy farming that will last until about 8:30 p.m.
Twilight meetings will be Monday, Aug, 27, at Kellercrest Holsteins, 1141 County Hwy JG South, Mount Horeb; Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Miltrim Farms, 1715 W. Townline Road, Athens; Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Brey Cycle Farm LLC, 2139 County Road O, Sturgeon Bay; and Thursday, Aug. 30, at Double S Dairy, N3447 Marshview Road, Markesan.
