Trig’s, a Rhinelander grocery store, has for the second year won a potato promotion contest sponsored by the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association and will receive a 2016 Cub Cadet ultra-terrain vehicle for its efforts.

The recognition came after a monthlong potato promotion in October that highlighted potato products in all of the store’s departments, including potato bread and Wisconsin-shape cookies in the bakery and a potato vodka promotion in the spirits department.

Trig’s took the “buy local, buy Wisconsin” theme to heart after winning the competition last year by becoming more involved with the local food pantry and the UW-Madison’s potato research station near Rhinelander, said Don Theisen, store director.
