Section 7 FFA Alumni will host their annual spring Washington Leadership Auction fundraiser at the Lions Shelter in Colby on Feb. 24.
The fundraiser will start with a social at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Section 7 business meeting, where each FFA chapter’s president will give a short speech of how their alumni supports their chapter.
Cost to attend is $14 and includes dinner, which will be chicken, beef tips and all the fixings. Dinner will immediately be followed with a live auction, with proceeds going to a $600 scholarship to help participating chapters send students to Washington Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., this summer.
The auction will feature about 40 items, ranging from animal feeders to variety baskets. Auction item coordinator Tony Meyer said highlights of this auction include a 1/16th Massey Harris Challenger, a Stanley 1,500-watt heater, and four tickets for the rides at Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America.
To be eligible to receive a scholarship, FFA chapters must be located within Section 7 and have members of their alumni affiliates attend both the fall and spring auctions. Chapters receive an entry into the scholarship drawing for each item donated or purchased by a member or representative of their chapter.
The event is open to the public, but preregistration by Feb. 12 is requested. For information or reservations, call Phylis Untiedt at 715-223-6548.
