Judge lifts cutting ban on national forest

There may be more legal appeals coming from two environmental groups concerned about wildlife in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in northern Wisconsin, but management practices can now move forward after seven years of litigation.

Forest supervisor takes transfer

Jeanne Higgins, supervisor at the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in northern Wisconsin, announced Jan. 27 that she has accepted a transfer to the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in eastern California and Nevada.
